The renewal of Spanish socialism at the end of the dictature, and in the years of the Transition to the democracy, had different characteristics in the regions where nationalisms were more radicated. In Euskadi, the reorganization of Basque socialism coincided with the establishment of a new generation of dirigeants who imposed a new Basque identity to an historical party, expression of the working class and local immigrants. As a result, socialism strengthened its political proposal against other left parties, and it also accelerated the process of nationalization of Basque Countries

Abstract
