Abstract

The summer school (the first edition was been in Dalmine, Bergamo, 20th JULY – 24th JULY 2017, with Egyptian and Italian students) introduces the most important principles of the Adaptive Reuse and Conservation tools and techniques. Students will get to know the theoretical background of conservation and how adaptive reuse is a tool to reverse the process for heritage obsolescence. Adaptive reuse of heritage buildings does not only step up the maintenance of the structure and delay its decay, but it also helps the functioning building to get involved in the living context it lies within, unlike buildings that are deserted and disused.
