The paper introduces the theme of embodiment, or rather the consciousness we have of our body, the awareness of "having" a body and of "being" a body, distinct from other objects of nature, both animate and inanimate. Phenomenological psychology, psychoanalysis (since its inception), anthropology, have all been interested in the theme of embodiment. However, in sociology, the link between gender identity and the values of women and men regarding embodiment, is still little explored. So far studies have focused on what is being done to the body (e.g.: violation, reification, manipulation) rather than what you want your body to do. Moreover, it is not easy to investigate empirically these in-depht dimensions of personality on a large number of cases. I propose to do it by analyzing the data produced by a survey in which was used an original battery of self-anchoring scales with questions on bodily faculties, never used before. A sample of 4,000 subjects were interviewed face-to-face (a now unusual way with numerous samples in the internet age).
