Reading and comprehending a consolidated city is a complex task as the present urban configuration is the result of age-long, complex stratifications and transformations. The conceptual work of interpreting this complexity needs an accurate reading of the physical elements and of the events that characterise every transformation, and a cross-check of the heterogeneous data resulting from historic documents and the urban consistency of the state of things. It is more and more urgent the exigency of creating computerized graphic systems able to acquire, implement and modify heterogeneous data with scientific rigour and still keeping pace with the transformations of an ever-evolving reality, and, on the other hand, to produce clear, interactive, popular, although technically encoded, elaborations. “The latest multimedia methodologies allow putting into relation dynamic representations of the transformations of the urban tissue with a varied series of information [...] making it possible both the reconstruction, even 3D, of the urban precincts [...] and the creation of complex databases with a high lexical and iconographic specificity and capable of accelerating and extraordinarily widening the consulting possibility of these multimedia products”. Abstract

(Boido 2010) In this occasion we propose a methodological system based on one suite of digital online and offline instruments, able to collect all the information, from the integrated survey to the rendered three-dimensional model, and to guarantee a culturally oriented, virtual, interactive fruition of architectonic sites, giving historic and constructional information that, overlapping, give birth to a matrix articulation of improvable addenda, useful for a global comprehension based on the perception and recomposition of the parts.
