Genere e corpo. Perché donne e uomini desiderano facoltà corporee differenti

This paper presents the results regarding an international survey's aspect, conducted with face-to-face interviews between 2014 and 2019 in Italy and Argentina on a sample of about 4,000 Italians and 2,400 Argentinians, aimed at comparing the two countries' cultures regarding self-perception in relation to nature, social groups, and society. The aspect being explored concerns the differences in the gender identity of Italian and Argentinian women and men. It considers their preferences for bodily faculties that are not specific to human beings but rather to nature, animate and inanimate. Such preferences are seen as revealing values and attitudes. From the data analysis an impression of greater traditionalism emerges in the values of Argentine male respondents. In fact they are more inclined than Italians to appreciate qualities considered manly and less interested in the control of space and in a sense of freedom. In the Argentinian sample, a very diversified imaginary between women and men emerges, which can result in more clearly distinct identities and gender roles than those of Italians. Some results show a lower tendency of Argentinian women to withdraw and renounce, compared to Italian women. Moreover, Argentinian women show a greater disposition to imagination and aestheticism; perhaps, also, because they are influenced by the literary tradition of "magic realism", often embodied by female characters. Other results shed light on the influence of age on the preferences of the four groups of subjects.

Il saggio presenta i risultati relativi a un aspetto di una ricerca internazionale, effettuata con interviste in presenza tra il 2014 e il 2019 in Italia e in Argentina su circa 4.000 italiani e 2.400 argentini, volta a comparare le culture dei due paesi riguardo la percezione di sé in rapporto alla natura, a gruppi sociali, alla società in generale. L’aspetto qui esplorato concerne le differenze nell’identità di genere di donne e uomini, italiani e argentini, e considera le loro preferenze per facoltà corporee non precipue degli esseri umani ma piuttosto della natura, animata e inanimata. Tali preferenze vengono reputate rivelatrici di valori e atteggiamenti. Dall'analisi dei dati affiora un’impressione di maggiore tradizionalismo nei valori degli intervistati argentini di genere maschile, più propensi degli italiani ad apprezzare doti considerate virili, e meno interessati al controllo dello spazio e al senso di libertà. Nel campione argentino emerge un immaginario molto diversificato tra donne e uomini, che può avere come conseguenza identità di genere e ruoli più nettamente distinti rispetto a quelli degli italiani. Alcuni risultati mostrano una tendenza minore al ritiro e alla rinuncia delle argentine rispetto alle italiane, e una maggiore disposizione all’immaginazione e all’estetismo, forse anche perché influenzate dalla tradizione letteraria del “realismo magico”, incarnato sovente da personaggi femminili. Altri risultati illuminano sull’influenza dell’età sulle preferenze dei quattro gruppi di soggetti.
