The graphic novel El Guitón Honofre (2005) by the Cabezón García brothers is an adaptation of the picaresque novel El Guitón Onofre by Gregorio González, written at the beginning of the 17th century. It is a project to rewrite the adventures of guitón Onofre through an innovative form that includes narration and image. The adaptation by the Cabezón García brothers helps to bring the reader closer to a classic work characterized by a heterogeneous language. The authors have carried out a transduction operation that constitutes an important transfer exercise from one genre of Spanish literary heritage to another. The article intends first to review the graphic and textual resources used and then to reflect on the benefits of the graphic novel in the study of other literary classics.
