This paper aims to investigate the marble shafts of ancient origin reused in the town of Trapani. Three of them, with Arabic inscriptions, had been already studied by the same authors, but here we give an update, mainly about the history of their discovering between 16th and 19th centuries. We also give here a catalogue of other ancient marble and granite shafts reused in medieval and modern buildings of Trapani, with new considerations about their original topographical and historical context.

Abstract
This paper aims to investigate the marble shafts of ancient origin reused in the town of Trapani. Three of them, with Arabic inscriptions, had been already studied by the same authors, but here we give an update, mainly about the history of their discovering between 16th and 19th centuries. We also give here a catalogue of other ancient marble and granite shafts reused in medieval and modern buildings of Trapani, with new considerations about their original topographical and historical context.File in questo prodotto:
