The essay examines the specificities of erotic discourse in the French press of the Belle Époque. The corpus of texts consists of the twenty-five issues of the magazine «L’art d’être jolie», published between 1904 and 1905 in Paris under the direction of Liane de Pougy. The analysis will highlight a discursive practice of eroticism based on a carefully constructed feminine double ethos. It will also highlight the main rhetorical procedures employed to construct a female discursive identity between conformism and modernity.
