Jean-Luc Lagarce’s novels are the object of this study. Specifically, it aims to investigate the erotic vocabulary of three novels collected in the volume Trois récits (2001). Together with the Journal, this part of Lagarce’s production represents a window into the author’s soul, who died of AIDS in 1995. For the first time ever, he writes about his illness and his attachment to life that always passes through the relationship with the other. Thee aim is to highlight – through a brief analysis of these novels – two different ways to talk about love. Thee first one is more abstract and it is connected to the gaze and the imagination, while the second one is strongly connected to the body.
