An oroantral communication (OAC) is a pathological condition characterized by the existence of a solution of continuity between the oral cavity and the maxillary sinus. The symptomatology of OACs is very varied and is closely related to the duration of the process. In this sense, long-standing openings favor contamination of the maxillary sinus and the development of a clinic with the characteristics of sinusitis, although this can also lead to communications whose etiology is sinus infection. Although the etiology can be very varied, the basis of treatment is always the same: Eliminate all the pathology that exists in the maxillary sinus and surgically close those lesions that do not remit after conservative treatment. As in all types of pathology, the attitude that the healthcare professional must adopt is prevention.

Abstract
As in all types of pathology, the attitude that the healthcare professional must adopt is prevention.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
