Abstract
The dramatic effects of the environmental crisis, the impressive acceleration of global warming and the resulting economic and social crises increase the urgency of solutions and actions of transformation, which however clash with sectoral and inadequate approaches, with the gigantic interests protecting the status quo and with the attempts to manipulate the concepts and objectives of sustainability. It is therefore necessary to substantiate the themes and objectives of ecological reconversion, to counter improper approaches, models and theories functional to greenwashing, incessantly re-proposed by large industrial groups - in particular, those that manage the fossil fuel cycle -, and to support policies and practices to increase the culture of sustainability. The Dictionary of Sustainability intends to promote an action of reflection and re-definition, aimed at supporting the ecological transition from a technical-scientific perspective and with an interdisciplinary approach.
