Abstract

The structural response of cross-sections of NC and SFRC columns subjected to compressive eccentric loading is numerically modelled in order to reproduce experimental results obtained in a previous study by the authors. A suitable choice of constitutive laws for concrete and reinforcing steel bars and a reasonable calibration criterion of the model allow to reproduce with good approximation level the experimental results while the moment-curvature curves, numerically derived, show the beneficial effect of the fibres in terms of confined core ductility and with respect to the stability contribution offered by the fibrous cover to the longitudinal reinforcement.
