The role of women has long been underrepresented in historical and cultural narratives. Figures like María Lejárraga (1874–1974)—a prolific Spanish writer, suffragist, and politician—perfectly exemplify this complex and frequently overlooked participation. Her life and discourse offer a compelling starting point to explore how women have actively shaped power dynamics and social representations through both words and actions. This conference seeks to address this historical imbalance by examining the multifaceted roles of women across diverse contexts, both real and imaginary. In philosophy, science, and education, this collection features trailblazers such as Ada Lovelace, Carolyn Merchant, and Margaret Masterman, alongside the critical insights of Ethel Sabin, Amie L. Thomasson, Stacie Friend, Helen Knight, Victorine de Chastenay, and María Zambrano. Political, leadership, and historical narratives are re-examined through figures spanning from antiquity to contemporary activism, including Galla Placidia, Christine de Pizan, Maria of Romania, and María Corina Machado, alongside crucial discourses by Sojourner Truth, Fatema Mernissi, Lola Palatín, and Mari Lola Higueras. Furthermore, the volume covers extensive cultural, literary, and artistic contributions. It explores the avant-garde legacy of the Bauhaus and creators like Leonora Carrington, Franca Rame, Cécile Chaminade, and Amélie Beaury-Saurel. Literary voices and critical lenses—such as those of Cristine de Pizán, Gianna Manzini, Sibilla Aleramo, Maria Polydouri, Colette, Ada Negri, Margherita Sarfatti, Aglaja Veteranyi, and Kateryna Frias— are analyzed alongside contemporary visual narratives by Francesca Sanna and the iconographic breakthroughs of Linda Schele. By tracing these diverse contributions from ancient archetypes like the Potnia Theron and renaissance ideals like Donna Giovanna d'Aragona to the present day, our objective is to highlight and critically analyze their often-hidden impact on societal progress and culture.

Abstract
By tracing these diverse contributions from ancient archetypes like the Potnia Theron and renaissance ideals like Donna Giovanna d'Aragona to the present day, our objective is to highlight and critically analyze their often-hidden impact on societal progress and culture.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
