The aim of this chapter is to explore the contribution of the media in preventing male violence against women from an ecological perspective. In order to achieve this, the first part of the chapter will present a literature review of the adoption of an ecological perspective in developing a prevention programme of violence against women. Moreover, it clarifies the role which public communication campaigns seem to play in this field. The second part will focus on the case of the British government’s This is Abuse public communication campaign as an example of how the media may be effectively employed from an ecological perspective to prevent violence against women. Finally, tentative conclusions and suggestions regarding further research in this field will be provided.
