This essay aims to investigate the symbolic relationships that the ancient sources outline between the children and the pigs. The overlap between the two referents is observed on a cognitive level, on a behavioral level and in regards to the food. This metaphorical correspondence creates a game of reflections, according to which on the piglet, which is the first friend of the child’s games, is projected the provisionally silly existence of the children and their temporary distance from the civil dimension.
