The object of the present study is a Franciscan monastery and the adjacent Immacolata church in Troina. Due to the low number of historical records, scientists were simply able to trace the foundation of the monastery to 1459. However, various traces on the surface highlight the presence of numerous construction phases. Several factors made a more reliable understanding of the physical consistency of the building difficult to obtain. Among these, the inaccessibility of numerous parts of the buildings’ internal spaces, the existence of a sharp incline of the road as well as very high walls along scant sections of the road. A 3D laser-scanning survey campaign made it possible to highlight the relationship between the different parts of the complex and the traces of the stratifications over time. The results of this survey were explained in 2D-3D graphic elaborations in support to a stratigraphic investigation.
