Protected areas, first seen as a constraint by the local populations who reside there, have always acquired plus the role of laboratory for the experimentation of new policies of virtuous management of the territory. Today they represent places where it is possible to mend the link between economic, social and environmental development through the arrest of the indiscriminate and irresponsible use of natural resources and the initiation of economic and social processes based on the goals of sustainable development. The Environmental Interpretation represents, within the management policies of protected areas, the tool suitable for planning and reconciling the use with conservation and protection. May constitute in the future next to Sicily, a formidable flywheel for local development and enhancement of the resources they characterize the territory. This will be made possible only by a system setting of the policies applied to the Interpretation Environmental for protected areas. The Guidelines presented here are a useful tool for consolidation of a system perspective in the field of management of protected areas and in particular in that their use and enhancement. Environmental Interpretation represents a field of research, communication and marketing practices environmental characterized by a strongly interdisciplinary system. It is the tool / process through which it is It is possible to orient the relationship between visitor and protected areas towards harmony, cooperation and synergy. In this horizon of meaning the Guidelines address the issues and approaches that develop research and action towards Environmental Interpretation practices both in the context of the role of the environmental interpreter and in the wider one and complex of the design of Environmental Interpretation Plans.

Può costituire nel futuro prossimo della Sicilia un formidabile volano per lo sviluppo locale e la valorizzazione delle risorse che caratterizzano il territorio. Ciò sarà reso possibile solo da un’impostazione di sistema delle politiche applicate all’Interpretazione Ambientale per le aree protette. Le Linee Guida che vengono qui presentate costituiscono uno strumento utile al consolidamento di un ottica di sistema nel campo della gestione delle aree protette e in particolar modo in quello della loro fruizione e valorizzazione. L’Interpretazione Ambientale rappresenta un settore di ricerca, di pratiche comunicative e di marketing ambientale caratterizzato da un impianto fortemente interdisciplinare. È lo strumento/processo attraverso cui è possibile orientare la relazione tra visitatore e aree protette verso l’armonia, la cooperazione e la sinergia. In questo orizzonte di senso le Linee Guida affrontano le problematiche e gli approcci che sviluppano la ricerca e l’azione verso le pratiche di Interpretazione Ambientale sia nell’ambito del ruolo dell’inteprete ambientale che in quello più vasto e complesso della progettazione di Piani di Interpretazione Ambientale.
