Abstract
Living the public space throughout the day was unthinkable until the advent of artificial lighting. The night darkness conditions could not guarantee the most common security requirements, making the community areas some large and dangerous urban vacuums. Thanks to artificial light parks, squares and streets become places of aggregation, socialization and leisure, accessible and usable regardless of the time. Through the night lighting it’s possible to perceive the space in a different way from the day, placing the accent on an area or on a building, enhancing its architectural features. Light can become a unique attraction, an opportunity for discovery, guidance for orientation and support for urban security during the night. The lighting project of public space becomes an opportunity for urban regeneration and an interpretative demonstration of the place and the build. The project is divided into specific phases that aim firstly at the detailed knowledge of the area of intervention through the survey of the luminance values and the nature of the surfaces involved; subsequently it’s important to define the project objectives and lighting requirements necessary to achieve them. The good project routine suggests to opt for a lighting that is coherent with the existing in the case of permanent installations, while the interpretative and propositional vein can be the master in the realization of temporary works.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
