Abstract

according to the World health Organization, extramedullary plasmacytoma is a rare myelomatous variant, which represents about 3% of soli- tary plasmacytoma characterized by extra-bone diffusion and serum agammaglobulinemia. the patient’s medical history and symptoms vary widely depending on the tumour site and the degree of locoregional involvement and spread. radiation therapy is the standard treatment for extramedullary plasmacytoma (EMP), while surgery should be reserved for the treatment of resection of well-defined masses – but always in combination with the former. We describe the case of a 57-year-old patient with a long-term nasal obstruction and irregular bleeding – which has been diagnosed with EMP of the nasopharynx. the patient was treated with surgery followed by radiation therapy with a satisfactory result, to date negative follow-up for ongoing relapses.
