Objectives: Investigate teachers’ perceptions of the importance, competence and use of planning and development of assessment practices in Tuscany. Methodology: Qualitative-descriptive study carried out following the administration of the ActEval questionnaire in four schools. Results: The results show a low alignment between the three criteria referring to the planning of the evaluation, a lack of student participation and attention to teachers’ needs. Limits and implications: Differences found between teachers depending on the organizational and teaching context of the school to which they belong and which prevent their generalization. Originality: Analysis of the meanings of evaluation from the perspective of teachers, authentic representation of values, perceptions and evaluation practices capable of promoting school innovation actions.
