This article will explore the media’s role in the prevention of violence against women under the framework of the Italian government’s anti-violence Action Plans. In order to accomplish this goal, the article will outline the aims, methodology and main results of a qualitative textual analysis, which was conducted on anti-violence public service advertising campaigns launched by the Italian government in the last 15 years. The primary goal of conducting textual analysis is to examine how the Italian government’s campaigns portrayed violence against women so as to mitigate the issue.
