Abstract

Recently a series of different approaches grouped under the general term of “in vitro evolution? have raised considerable interest (Kauffman, 1993; Bartel and Szostak, 1993; Tuerk and Gold, 1990; Smith and Scott, 1993; Lowman et al., 1991; Stemmer, 1994). In synthesis, the idea is to mimic the natural selection process, in the test tube, in order to either select molecules with new properties or acquire information about the possible routes explored by nature in evolving contemporary structures, functions and organisms.
