The cultural heritage, as in open territory such as metropolitan settlements, is affected over time by abandonment caused by the loss of its specific use, of recognised collective social or spiritual values, or by the interruption of physical links or social-economic role. In Sicilian territory, some cases regarding network value structures and changes in local historical materials and techniques are used. In Palermo, a superimposed new urbanistic traces of ‘60, causing the isolation of some neighbourhoods or urban parts, is compared with similar cases in Barcelona, while interventions on industrial archaeology buildings with social and artistic activities, some in a PSPP management, have represented efficient solutions of reuse
