This paper examines the role of play as a catalyst for change in educational contexts, focusing on research carried out by the University of Enna ”Kore” within the framework of the Micropolis Project. The latter, implemented in areas of Sicily characterized by deep social inequalities, aims to combat educational poverty through the creation of micro-spaces dedicated to early childhood. Taking a participatory approach, the research explores how innovative playful practices can foster social inclusion and individual empowerment. Preliminary results confirm the central role of play in promoting children‘s overall development, enhancing cognitive, emotional and relational skills, and helping to generate meaningful educational and social change in the communities involved.
Il presente contributo esamina il ruolo del gioco come catalizzatore di cambiamento nei contesti educativi, focalizzandosi su una ricerca svolta dall'Università di Enna “Kore” nell’ambito del Progetto Micropolis. Quest’ultimo, attuato in aree della Sicilia caratterizzate da profonde disuguaglianze sociali, mira a contrastare la povertà educativa attraverso la creazione di micro-spazi dedicati all'infanzia. Adottando un approccio partecipativo, la ricerca esplora come le pratiche ludiche innovative possano favorire l'inclusione sociale e l’empowerment individuale. I risultati preliminari confermano il ruolo centrale del gioco nel promuovere lo sviluppo globale del bambino, potenziando competenze cognitive, emotive e relazionali, e contribuendo a generare cambiamenti educativi e sociali significativi nelle comunità coinvolte.
